Your upholstered furniture plays a huge role in the interior design of your home. For example, your sofa is the main object of your living room, right? You enjoy sitting on your couch and watching a movie after a long day at work. But do you take care of your upholstered furniture? Do you clean it and make sure there are no stains or dirty patches forming on the fabric?

I know that adding another cleaning chore to your list can be overwhelming, however, I want to share all my secrets so I can make cleaning your upholstery so much easier!

How To Clean Your Upholstered Furniture?

Today, I will cover all the different fabrics and exactly how to take care of them, however, before we get into that I need to inform you that no matter the fabric – the first thing you must do when cleaning your upholstery is to vacuum it. That way, you will remove all debris, crumbs, and impurities that are sitting on top of the upholstery. This will make the cleaning so much easier!

If you have pets then your upholstery is probably covered in pet hair – and the vacuum cleaner won’t be able to remove all the hairs. This is why you need to use a lint roller.

– Leather Upholstery

First, I will cover how to clean your leather upholstery. I know that your leather sofa doesn’t look dirty, however, this doesn’t mean that it’s clean. Thankfully, leather upholstery is extremely easy to clean. All you need to do is mix a cup of warm water and a teaspoon of Castile soap. Mix both ingredients very well then pour a small amount on a microfiber cloth. Wipe the sofa with it. Once you are done, dry the surface with paper towels.

– Microfiber Upholstery

In order to clean your microfiber upholstery, you need rubbing alcohol. Simply pour it in a spray bottle then spray a small section of the fabric with it. Grab a sponge and scrub the surface. Repeat these steps until you have covered the furniture.
